Ranking the 2018 Tony Awards Pundits

The Tony Race is over, and this year was a doozy. There were a few categories that nearly everyone got wrong. The top error (which, to my knowledge, only my random picks from random.org got right) was in guessing that Mean Girls’ Tina Fey would beat out Itamar Moses (The Band’s Visit) for Best Book of a Musical. Another big upset was Laurie Metcalf (Three Tall Women) beating out both Noma Dumezweni (Harry Potter) and Denise Gough (Angels in America).

This year, in the OHenry camp, the machines beat out the humans. All in all, we didn’t have our best performance this year, but most notably, for the first time since we started doing this back in 2015, our algorithm’s picks beat our our producer’s picks.

Check out the full ranking of pundits below, and congrats to TimeOut’s Adam Feldman on getting first place this year. This marks the second year in a row that Feldman came in first, though last year he shared that status with our very own Chris Schembra.

Note with these rankings that not all of these experts published predictions for all 26 categories. To accommodate for this, our rankings are weighted by the total number of categories each expert made predictions for.
