A Very Broadway Valentine – 2017

Two years ago, we started this blog with a post of Broadway-inspired Valentine’s Day dates.  Since then, we’ve released a yearly list of theater-themed dates for hopeful romantics.  Here is our 2017 List of 14 theatrical twists to classic date-night activities.

(1) Go Clubbing

‘Broadway’s Supper Club,’ Feinstein’s/54 Below, is offering a Valentine-themed concert Tuesday night.  Love I Hear: Couples Celebrate Valentine’s Day will play at 7:00pm and again at 9:30pm and will include love songs sung by Broadawy’s favorite couples.

(2) Bubbling Romance

Grab a glass of champagne at The Heath’sValentine’s Day Dinner.  The restaurant, which is inside of the McKittrick Hotel, is offering a prix-fixe menu and an entertaining evening.

(3) Meet the Parents

Broadway’s first a capella musical, In Transit, centers around an engaged gay couple who have very different relationships with their parents.

(4) A Night at The Museum

Attend one of the first performances of Sunday in the Park with George at the newly re-opened Hudson Theatre.

(5) Pub Crawl

Joe’s Pub, has three shows this weekend for you and your date:

Good Folk Pre-Valentine’s Day Love Fest: The Soulful Love Edition – Feb 12, 9pm
Isaac Oliver is Your Valentine – Feb 13, 9:00pm
Never Sleep Alone starring Dr. Alex Schiller: Valentine’s Day Session – Feb 14th @ 9:00pm

(6) Come to the Cabaret

Cabaret is back in New York at The Secret Theatre.  This new production stages the Kander & Ebb classic in the back alley of a warehouse in Long Island City.

(7) Sugar, Butter, Baby

Buy your date a sweet pie at Broadway’s Waitress with a score by Sara Bareilles.

(8) LGBT History

Lincoln Center’s Bull in a China Shop looks at Marry Woolley and her Partner, Jeannette Marks’ impact on revolutionizing women’s education at the height of the suffrage movement.

(9) Take a Trip

Travel to 19th century Russia for a performance of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 starring Josh Groban.

(10) Make a Commitment

Attend the world’s longest running musical  City of all time, The Fantastics. 

(11) Break a Commitment

Ever wonder what it’s like to be in an open marriage?  Mint Theater Company’s production of Yours Unfaithfully will give you a glimpse of what life in an open marriage is like.

 (12) Dancing on your Own

Significant Other on Broadway will host a “Singles Awareness Day” party following the show’s first preview on Tuesday night.  Get a ticket to the show and bring your ticket stub to Bourbon Street Bar & Grill for a free drink afterwards.

(13) Dinner & A Show

Buy your tickets to Sweeney Todd off-Broadway.  Be sure to order a pie so you and your date can dine on Victorian England style “pie and mash” before the show.

(14) Relax at Home


We’ve made some additions to our list of Broadway’s Greatest Love Songs.  Snuggle up on the couch and listen to these show tunes with your date.
